This has been a year filled with many triumphs and changes. As I reflect on these memories, I’d love to share some with you.

First, we welcomed my youngest daughter’s baby son into the world on April 25. Although he was a month early, he suffered no ill effects, and he’s a healthy robust, almost-eight-month-old! His personality radiates the best of both families, and we all love him to pieces!

Career wise, I’ve recently had the honor of participating in an author’s dream-come-true.
My first novel Dinosaurs & Cherry Stems was awarded a third place, bronze medal for Humor in the Reader’s Favorites Competition.

The experience was almost unbelievable. Because a writer’s journey can sometimes be long and arduous, it’s moments like this that more than make up for the frustrations our author community feels at certain points in their careers. When I was notified my novel had placed so favorably, I was overwhelmed, grateful and humbled all at once. It was like a lightning bolt pierced the essence that allows my muse its creativity, and lifted it into a realm of joyfulness I’d never before felt as an author.

What began as a journal, while Joe and I were dating, evolved into the award winning novel Dinosaurs and Cherry Stems. The story earned several prestigious awards for Humor and Romance the past few months, and my husband’s enthusiastic encouragement was key in creating my first published novel.

Plus, it earned us a trip to Miami. *wink*

Marriage news: Joe’s love for me is my true Christmas miracle. This year, as we celebrate the holiday season, we do this together under our first roof as man and wife. We’ve sold our previous homes, his and mine, and bought one together.

In short, and this is important, too: We’ve renovated both the house and our lives. The physical renovations were both challenging and rewarding, but seven months later, our home is almost completely finished. The painting will soon be accomplished, but I think what we’ve achieved so far has been nothing short of hard work and money, with a miracle or two thrown in for good measure.

Wishing you all a very Happy Holiday season, and may all your wishes come true!
